I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to feature my ‘Under the Stars, Cork City’ illustration as the backdrop to Casey’s Furniture Christmas window display, not just once, but four years in a row – 2021 - 2024. It felt like a true Christmas dream come true!
Casey’s Furniture, founded by the ever-visionary John Casey in 1921, has been a cherished Cork City institution for over a century. The magical Christmas window display has become an enchanting tradition, capturing the hearts of everyone who passes by. To have my illustration be a part of this holiday wonderland for the last four years was a true honour.
The illustration itself brings to life some of Cork’s most iconic and well-loved landmarks, each one lovingly illustrated with watercolour pencils and paint. I carefully collaged the buildings together to create the final starry night scene, a dreamy, whimsical depiction of our beautiful city under a sky filled with starlight and joy.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with the wonderful team at Casey’s, and I’m so grateful to have been part of their century-old Christmas tradition.
